TONY MARTIN OUTRAGED BY THE CHRIS FROOME INVESTIGATION
German cyclist Tony Martin is appalled by the way the Cycling's world governing body, the UCI is handling the Chris Froome investigation.
Froome, the Team Sky rider, remains under investigation after failing a drug test back in September. Froome had doubled up on the amount of salbutamol, an asthmatic medication, he was allowed to consume prior to winning Vuelta a Espana.
He has yet to be suspended but the the UCI is in search of more details from the team.
According to BBC Sport, Martin said that Froome should have been suspended for the subsequent World Championships in September immediately after the results of the test came back.
"I am totally angry," Martin told BBC Sport. "There is definitely a double standard being applied."
He went on to say that any other cyclist would have been suspended immediately under these circumstances.
Under UCI's anti-doping rules, the presence of specified substances like salbutamol in a sample does not result in a mandatory provisional suspension.
"That is a scandal, and he should at least not have been allowed to appear in the World Championships," Martin told BBC Sport.
